About psychological therapy & counselling

Therapy that actually
fits into your life

Our psychologists work with you over structured sessions to understand what's keeping you stuck and build practical tools to move forward. Every session is coordinated with your nurse and any other clinicians on your team, so progress carries across your whole plan of care.

You might benefit if you're
  • Feeling low, anxious or overwhelmed more days than not
  • Navigating a recent trauma, grief or major life change
  • Struggling with sleep, focus, mood or relationships
  • Ready for a structured therapy plan, not just a chat
What we help with

Conditions our psychologists support

Every presentation is individual, so this isn't exhaustive, and your intake nurse will confirm fit before matching you.

Depression & low mood

Structured CBT, behavioural activation and schema work to lift mood and rebuild motivation.

Anxiety disorders

Generalised anxiety, social anxiety, panic and health anxiety, with evidence-based exposure and cognitive work.

Trauma & PTSD

Trauma-focused CBT, EMDR-informed approaches and stabilisation for single-incident and complex trauma.

OCD & intrusive thoughts

Exposure and response prevention (ERP) with careful pacing and support between sessions.

Grief & loss

A considered space to process bereavement, pet loss, relationship endings and identity shifts.

Relationship difficulties

Individual work on attachment patterns, communication, boundaries and relational repair.

Our approach

How we work with psychology.

A consistent, clinically-grounded structure that respects your time and makes progress measurable.

Step 1: Matched to presentation, not availability

Your nurse pairs you with a psychologist whose training and experience fit your goals, not just the next open slot.

Step 2: Care plan first, session plan second

Therapy slots into your overall CareDirect plan so your dietitian, nurse and psychologist are pulling in the same direction.

Step 3: Regular progress reviews

Your psychologist tracks progress using recognised clinical tools at regular intervals. Results inform whether to continue, adjust or transition your care.

Step 4: Secure, Australian-hosted video

Encrypted video sessions hosted on Australian infrastructure. Clinical notes are stored in a secure electronic health record.

Questions about psychological therapy & counselling

The practical things people ask most often before booking.

No referral is required to book. Your nurse-led intake is the only first step. A GP Mental Health Treatment Plan is needed only if you'd like Medicare rebates on your sessions.

Most clients work with a psychologist over 6 to 12 sessions, with progress reviewed every six sessions. Shorter, focused work is often enough; longer-term therapy is available if clinically indicated.

Research suggests telehealth-delivered CBT and related therapies may produce outcomes comparable to in-person therapy for many presentations. Your psychologist will advise if in-person care is a better fit.

Message your nurse and we'll re-match you. No need to start from scratch. All clinicians work to the same care plan and can pick up where you left off.
